Weir Kraken – Full Delivery Story (Najad 57)
Our journey with Weir Kraken, the elegant and exceptionally built Najad 57, began with her expert boat delivery from Southampton to Las Palmas. Along the Portuguese and Spanish coasts, we faced rough weather generated by a developing Atlantic storm. Despite the challenging seas and strong winds, Weir Kraken displayed outstanding stability and confidence. She carried us safely through every mile and arrived in Las Palmas without a single issue—a testament to her strength, balance, and true ocean-going capability, making her a prime example of luxury yacht delivery.
Months later, after her sail in the Caribbean, Weir Kraken was shipped back to Southampton with a failed engine. That was when our second and far more demanding mission began: returning her to Sweden for a full refit entirely under sail, with no engine, across one of the world’s most unpredictable bodies of water—the North Sea, showcasing our premium yacht services.
Guiding a 57-foot, 30-ton yacht through the North Sea without propulsion requires precision, timing, and deep respect for the elements. We threaded our way between vast offshore wind farms, oil platforms, strong currents, shifting weather systems, and heavy commercial traffic. Yet through every mile, Weir Kraken responded beautifully under sail, proving once again her strength and seaworthiness.
Despite the harsh conditions and the inherent risks of maneuvering a powerless vessel, she reached Sweden safely, without the slightest damage, and was delivered to the shipyard in perfect condition.
Two unforgettable passages—one south into the Atlantic sun, one north through cold, demanding seas—both showcasing Weir Kraken’s reliability and spirit. A yacht we’ve come to know intimately, and one we are proud to have delivered safely across such contrasting oceans.
A support boat helped tow us from Swanwick Marina toward the exit of the Hamble River, guiding the yacht safely through the narrow channel. This clip captures the final part of the river before entering open water—a smooth and well-coordinated maneuver during our Southampton departure.
A calm but focused moment while navigating through a narrow channel. With limited room to maneuver, every turn, speed adjustment, and course correction had to be precise. These tight waterways demand slow, controlled movement and full attention—showing a different, more delicate side of seamanship.
A calm night at sea with almost no wind—just 1–2 knots gently moving us forward. In these conditions, we had to constantly monitor the current’s speed and direction. With so little wind, a counter-current could easily take control of the boat and make steering difficult. During this passage, both wind and current played a critical role in keeping our course steady through the darkness.
A short glimpse from our passage across the North Sea. Changing conditions, open water, offshore wind farms, and long miles under sail—this clip captures a small moment from an unforgettable journey through one of Europe’s most dynamic seas.

A beautiful sunset captured during our passage across the North Sea. After long offshore miles, the sea settled into calm, glowing colors as the sun disappeared behind the horizon. A quiet, peaceful moment at sea—one of those scenes that make every mile worth it.
